
Members of the Gardner Lab are involved in teaching, mentoring and outreach of students from age 5 through the graduate level. Some of our formal activities are listed below.
Current courses at Boston University:
BE209 Principles of Molecular Cell Biology and Biotechnology. This course was developed by Tim Gardner to introduce sophomore biomedical engineers to the biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics of cell biology and biotechnology. Labs were developed by Ilaria Mogno, Xin Brown and Tim Gardner.
BE567 Nonlinear Dynamics in Biological Systems. This first-year graduate course in nonlinear mathematics was developed by Tim Gardner.
Undergraduate reserach:
Boston University iGEM Team. Since 2006, the Gardner Lab has sponsored, hosted and mentored the Boston Univeristy iGEM team.
K-12 education:
Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Members of the Gardner lab have served as judges for this annual event hosted by the College of Engineering at Boston University.
Engineers without Borders, Boston. Ilaria Mogno is teaching kids ages 5-12 at Hurley Elementary school about engineering through the Engineering Education Outreach Program of Engineers without Borders, Boston. Contact Ilaria to get involved or donate!
